Kochi Metro Rail Recruitment 2026: Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Kerala, is offering 70 apprenticeship opportunities for engineering graduates, BBA, B.Com and BCA graduates, diploma holders and ITI-qualified candidates. The recruitment covers 16 Graduate Technical, 6 Graduate Non-Technical, 28 Diploma Technician and 20 ITI Trade Apprentice positions under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Applications are being accepted from 15 October to 10 November 2026.

Selected apprentices will undergo one year of practical training with a monthly stipend ranging from Rs. 9,600 to Rs. 12,300, along with an additional Rs. 1,200 food/messing allowance per month. Candidates must have completed their qualifying course through full-time regular study, passed within the prescribed five-year period and attained 18 years of age. KMRL will shortlist candidates for certificate verification without conducting a written examination or interview. Applicants must register on the applicable NAPS or NATS portal and submit the prescribed application form to the Kochi Metro Rail office.

KMRL has issued its Apprenticeship Recruitment Notification 2026-27 for 70 apprenticeship positions across technical, non-technical, diploma and ITI trades. The overview below summarizes the vacancies, qualifications, age, stipend, training period, eligibility restrictions, application process, selection procedure and official contact details.

Important: These are apprenticeship training positions, not regular permanent KMRL employment. The vacancy count is indicative and may change according to company requirements and statutory provisions.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited started accepting applications for the Apprenticeship Programme 2026-27 on 15 October 2026. Candidates must complete the required NAPS or NATS registration and submit the prescribed application form by 10 November 2026.

KMRL has announced 70 apprenticeship vacancies divided among graduate, diploma and ITI categories. Diploma Technician apprentices account for the largest share, with 28 positions, followed by 20 ITI Trade Apprentice positions.

All selected apprentices will additionally receive a food/messing allowance of Rs. 1,200 per month, as stated in the notification.

The notification provides the following reservation-wise distribution for 70 apprenticeship positions.

Vacancy Clarification: The category-wise entries printed in the official notification contain an arithmetic inconsistency. The five reservation figures displayed against Graduate Technical add up to 15, although the row total is 16. Summing the printed category entries also differs from the advertised total-row category figures. The advertised category totals are reproduced above without inventing corrections. Candidates should consult KMRL for clarification of the reservation distribution.

The KMRL Apprenticeship Programme 2026-27 covers engineering, commerce, management, computer applications and ITI trades. The advertisement lists eligible disciplines within each apprenticeship category.

The notification does not provide separate vacancy numbers for every individual engineering branch or ITI trade. The announced vacancies are grouped by apprenticeship category.

Candidates applying for Kochi Metro Rail Apprenticeship Recruitment 2026 must have completed the relevant qualification through a full-time regular course from a government-recognized institution. Educational qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance education or online modes are not accepted.

KMRL Graduate Technical Apprentice Qualification

Applicants must have completed a full-time regular four-year B.Tech or B.E. degree in one of the engineering disciplines notified by KMRL.

KMRL Graduate Non-Technical Apprentice Qualification

Applicants must possess a full-time regular three-year degree in BBA, B.Com or BCA from a recognized institution.

KMRL Diploma Technician Apprentice Qualification

Candidates must possess a full-time regular three-year engineering diploma in the relevant notified discipline.

KMRL ITI Trade Apprentice Qualification

Applicants must have completed a full-time regular ITI course in the relevant advertised trade.

KMRL Apprenticeship Passing Year Eligibility

Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination within five years from the application closing date of 10 November 2026. The notification also requires candidates to be medically fit under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Who Is Not Eligible for Kochi Metro Rail Apprenticeship 2026?

• Candidates awaiting final examination results.
• Candidates who have not completed 18 years of age.
• Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training in any organization for any duration.
• Candidates currently undergoing apprenticeship training.
• Candidates whose qualification was obtained through part-time education.
• Candidates holding correspondence, distance education or online-mode qualifications.
• Candidates who do not meet the prescribed qualification or medical fitness requirements.

KMRL requires apprenticeship applicants to have completed 18 years of age. Candidates below 18 years are not eligible.

The monthly stipend depends on the apprentice's qualification category. Graduate apprentices receive Rs. 12,300, diploma apprentices Rs. 10,900 and ITI trade apprentices Rs. 9,600. An additional Rs. 1,200 per month is payable as food/messing allowance.

Kochi Metro Rail Apprenticeship DBT Details

The notification states that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the NATS scheme will provide Rs. 6,150 for graduate apprentices and Rs. 5,450 for diploma apprentices. The remaining applicable stipend will be paid through KMRL's arrangements, as prescribed.

The DBT amounts form part of the notified monthly stipends and are not additional payments.

Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training for a period of one year from their date of joining. The training will end automatically upon completion of the one-year period, and no extension is permitted.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited has confirmed that there is no application fee for the Apprenticeship Programme 2026-27.

The KMRL Apprenticeship Recruitment 2026 selection process does not include a written examination or interview. Candidates will be shortlisted from the applications received and called for verification of original documents and certificates.

1. Application Screening: KMRL will review applications for completeness and eligibility.
2. Shortlisting: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for document verification.
3. Certificate Verification: Candidates must present their original qualification, identity and other prescribed documents.
4. Medical Fitness and Police Verification: Selected candidates must satisfy the applicable requirements before engagement.
5. Apprenticeship Contract: Engagement will require acceptance of the tripartite apprenticeship contract through the NATS/NAPS system.

Incomplete or ineligible applications will be rejected without individual intimation.

KMRL has prescribed a two-stage application process. Candidates must first obtain the applicable NAPS or NATS registration number and then submit the completed Apprentice Bio-Data Form with required documents to the KMRL office.

Step 1: Complete NAPS or NATS Registration

1. ITI candidates must register as Candidate/Student on the NAPS portal at https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/ ↗.
2. Graduate and Diploma candidates must enrol under NATS at https://nats.education.gov.in/ ↗.
3. Complete or update the applicant profile on the applicable portal.
4. Upload the required qualification and supporting documents.
5. Obtain the NAPS/NATS registration or enrolment number.

Step 2: Submit the KMRL Apprentice Application Form

1. Download or print the Apprentice Bio-Data Form attached to the official notification.
2. Enter the NAPS/NATS registration or enrolment number.
3. Select the applicable apprenticeship category and trade or discipline.
4. Complete the personal, educational and contact details in CAPITAL LETTERS as instructed.
5. Affix a passport-size photograph.
6. Fill in the educational qualification information and sign the declaration.
7. Attach the prescribed documents, including proof of NAPS/NATS registration.
8. Submit or send the completed application in the attached format to the KMRL office address.
9. Ensure the application reaches the prescribed office within the notified application period.
