Bharathiar University Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education Recruitment 2026

Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, is accepting applications for the post of Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education. Applicants must have completed 50 years and be below 57 years at the time of notification, and need a Master's Degree along with long teaching, research or administrative experience. The appointment is on tenure for 3 years in the first instance. Eight copies of the filled-in application must reach the University by 5.30 p.m. on 30 November 2026.

Bharathiar University is a State University in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Its letterhead states that it is accredited with A++ Grade (3.63 CGPA) by NAAC and holds the 46th rank among Indian universities by MoE-NIRF.

Age Limit

Candidates should have completed 50 years but be below 57 years at the time of notification. The age of superannuation for the post is 60 years.

Educational Qualification

A Master's Degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of 'B' in the UGC seven (7) point scale.

Experience

Candidates need one of the following:

• At least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor (Sr. Scale)/Assistant Professor with eight (8) years in the Associate Professor grade, with experience in educational administration.
• Comparable experience in research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education.
• 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.

Relaxation in Marks

• SC/ST category: 5% relaxation, from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Master's degree level.
• Ph.D. degree holders who passed their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991: 5% relaxation, from 55% to 50% of the marks.
• Existing incumbents already in the University system: the minimum requirement of 55% shall not be insisted upon.

Language Requirement

Knowledge of Tamil to the extent of carrying official correspondence and drafting reports.

This amount covers the registration fee and the application fee. Pay it by Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

The selection procedure will be as per the decision of the Syndicate of Bharathiar University. Applicants should be prepared to come for an interview at their own cost. Anyone who attempts to canvas or influence their candidature in any manner will be disqualified. The Syndicate reserves the right to fill or not to fill up the post without assigning any reason.

• The appointment is on tenure basis for 3 years in the first instance, or until the superannuation age, whichever is earlier.
• The selected candidate must join duty immediately and enter into an agreement with the University, in accordance with its laws, on joining the post.
• Pay protection in any manner will not be guaranteed to candidates in service on selection.

1. Download or make photocopies of the application form. Self-designed application formats will not be entertained.
2. Fill in the application in all respects and enclose supporting evidence for all the information provided.
3. Fill in the Information Sheet and submit it with each application.
4. Enclose the Demand Draft for the fee.
5. Prepare eight (08) copies of the application, with copies of the particulars listed below.
6. Address the application to the Registrar (by designation only), Bharathiar University, Coimbatore – 641 046, so that it reaches the University by the closing date and time.
7. Candidates in service must submit the form through proper channel. In case of delay, they may send seven (07) advance copies to the Registrar.

• Qualifications and degrees, with the years of passing and the University in which they were taken
• Other academic distinctions and publications, if any
• Present occupation and salary with scale of pay
• Languages with which the applicant is conversant, with copies of recent testimonials
• Names of two persons to whom a reference can be made

A No Objection Certificate obtained from the Appropriate Authority/Management.

Other Instructions

• Applications received after the last date, and those with incomplete particulars, will be summarily rejected.
• The University will not be responsible for any delay in receipt due to a public holiday, strike or any other unforeseen reason, and such applications are liable to be rejected.
• Enquiries made over telephone or in person will not be entertained.
• After Notification and until the publication of the result, no information will be furnished under the Right to Information Act.
