East Central Railway - Instructor Recruitment 2026

• Employees working in the same Grade Pay of ₹4,600 or Pay Level 7 are eligible.
• If suitable employees in Level 7 are unavailable, employees working in Grade Pay ₹4,200 or Pay Level 6 may be considered.
• Employees working one grade or level below the advertised post must have completed at least two years of regular service.
• Financial upgradation received under MACP will not be treated as the substantive grade for deciding eligibility.
• Employees who previously worked as instructors can apply only after completing one year from the date they left the training centre.

The candidate must be below 58 years of age on the date the notification was issued. The age condition is prescribed according to RBE No. 104/2023 dated 4 September 2023.

Selected employees will receive a Teaching Allowance equal to 12% of their Basic Pay while working as Instructor, subject to the applicable Railway Board instructions.

The selection will carry a total of 100 marks and include the following stages:

Candidates must obtain at least 60% marks to qualify. A negative marking of one-third mark will apply for every incorrect answer in the objective examination.

• The written examination will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test.
• The questions will be objective in nature.
• The written examination will carry 75 marks.
• The classroom lecture trial will carry 25 marks.
• The minimum qualifying mark is 60%.
• One-third mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
• The prescribed syllabus has been enclosed with the departmental notification.

1. Eligible employees should obtain the prescribed application form from their department.
2. Complete the application with correct service, grade and employment details.
3. Submit the application to the concerned controlling department or Personnel Department.
4. The department will verify the employee’s service particulars and eligibility.
5. Verified applications must be forwarded to the competent authority through e-Office.
6. The concerned department must complete the forwarding process by 15 October 2026.

Applications sent directly by employees or received after the prescribed date may not be considered.

The selected employee will be posted at the Zonal Railway Training Institute, Muzaffarpur, on a tenure basis for a maximum period of five years.

If the employee’s performance is found unsatisfactory, the administration may return the employee to their parent unit before completion of the tenure. The employee’s lien will remain maintained in the parent department, division or railway.

• This is an internal departmental selection for eligible East Central Railway employees.
• Clerical employees of the Engineering Department are not eligible.
• Eligibility will be determined based on the employee’s substantive grade, not the grade received through MACP financial upgradation.
• Age, service period and other eligibility conditions will be calculated as of the notification date.
• The departmental authority must verify all service particulars before forwarding the application.
• Applications received after 15 October 2026 will not be considered.
• Negative marking of one-third mark will apply in the written examination.
• The selected employee may remain at ZRTI Muzaffarpur for a maximum tenure of five years.
• Selected employees will receive Teaching Allowance at 12% of Basic Pay.
