Kalakshetra Foundation Professor (Bharatanatyam) Recruitment 2026

Under Kalakshetra Recruitment 2026, one post of Professor (Bharatanatyam) (Group A) at Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts (RDCFA), Kalakshetra Foundation, will be filled on deputation/short term contract basis. The post is at Pay Level 22 (Rs.56100-177500) in the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix of the TN State Pay Scale. Eminent artists and private persons may also apply. Kalakshetra Foundation is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Applications in the prescribed proforma (Annexure I) must reach the Director, Kalakshetra Foundation by 5.30 p.m. on 23 November 2026.

• Eminent artists/private persons who meet the essential qualifications and also have the desirable qualifications that apply to an Assistant Professor (Bharatanatyam) level appointee in a Central/State Government/autonomous institution.
• Assistant Professor (Bharatanatyam) in Central/State Government/autonomous institutions holding analogous posts, or with 8 years' regular service in Pay Level 16 (Rs.36400 - 115700) of the Tamil Nadu Government State Pay Scales, or an equivalent level.

Essential Qualifications

• (a) Class X passed
• (b) Diploma holder or Post Diploma holder from a recognised institution in the particular field
• (c) Should be able to handle final year diploma and post diploma classes, including the theory
• (d) Should be able to take part in Kalakshetra productions
• (e) Able to give a solo performance for about 2 hours
• (f) Should be able to sing and conduct dance programmes by doing nattuvangam

Desirable Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognised university or equivalent
• Knowledge of any of the South Indian languages and Hindi, and ability to write music and dance notations

Age Limit

For appointment on deputation/short term contract, the maximum age limit is not exceeding 50 years on the closing date for receipt of applications, i.e. 23 November 2026.

The post will be filled on deputation/short term contract basis. In the application form, candidates mark their applicant type as either "On Deputation" or "On Short Term Contract." The form also asks for the candidate's present pay level, whether they are on the VII Pay Commission pay level (with the date of revision and the pre-revised scale), and the total monthly emoluments they currently draw.

The notice lists these responsibilities for the Professor (Bharatanatyam) in RDCFA:

• To handle Diploma and Post-Diploma practical classes, including theory
• To complete the entire curriculum within the specified time
• To assess the learning quality of each student and accordingly supplement additional instructions, if any, as required
• To hold regular meetings with parents and guardians and apprise them about the regularity in attendance, ability to learn, progress made in learning and any other relevant information about the child
• To take part in Kalakshetra productions
• To conduct rehearsals for all the dance dramas
• To assist in organising art festivals and other functions throughout the year
• To accompany artists in the performances conducted at Kalakshetra and abroad
• To choreograph dance dramas
• To provide guidance for the Costume Department in designing costumes for dance dramas
• To coordinate with the Dance section in organising art festivals and other celebrations at Kalakshetra
• To conduct rehearsals for all dance-dramas in co-ordination with the dance section
• To perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the principal or by the administration of the Kalakshetra Foundation

Selection starts with a scrutiny of applications. Candidates who fulfil the Essential Qualifications in all respects, as per the parameters of the notice, will be shortlisted. Shortlisted candidates may be called for a skill test, if necessary.

Applications are made offline, using the prescribed proforma in Annexure I of the notice. The steps below come from the notice and its application form:

1. Fill in the Annexure I application form and mark your applicant type: On Deputation or On Short Term Contract.
2. Fill in every column, including employment details in chronological order. If the space is not enough, add a separate sheet signed by you.
3. Affix a recent passport size photograph, then sign the form and add the place and date.
4. Attach the documents listed in the notice's checklist (see the next section).
5. Serving officials must make sure that the cadre clearance, the vigilance clearance and copies of their APARs for the last five years are sent through proper channel, together with the employer's certificate in Annexure II.
6. Put the application in a cover superscribed "Application for the Post of Professor (Bharatanatyam), Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts".
7. Send it to Director, Kalakshetra Foundation, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai 600041 so that it reaches by 5.30 p.m. on 23 November 2026.

• Incomplete applications, and applications received after the last date, will be summarily rejected.
• In the Annexure II certificate, the employer of a serving employee certifies that the applicant's particulars are correct, that no vigilance or disciplinary case is pending or contemplated against the applicant, that the applicant's integrity is certified, that no major/minor penalty has been imposed in the last 10 years, and that the cadre controlling authority has cleared the application.
• The application form asks applicants to state, Yes or No, whether they meet the requirement of the post based on the details they have entered.
