NIEPMD Deputy Registrar, Lecturer and More Recruitment 2026

The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan), Chennai, has 4 regular posts: Deputy Registrar (Admin), two Lecturer posts and Rehabilitation Officer (Independent Living). There is one post of each. Applications are made online within 30 days of the advertisement appearing in Employment News. The fee is Rs. 590, but SC, ST, PwBD, transgender and female candidates pay nothing. The Deputy Registrar post is filled only on deputation. The other three posts are filled by direct recruitment or by deputation.

NIEPMD (D) is a national institute under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. This notice replaces an earlier one. Advertisement Notification No.5(R)/2025 appeared in Employment News dated 20.12.2025 to 26.12.2025, and it has been cancelled due to service exigencies.

Age Limit

Age is counted on the closing date of the online application.

The upper age limit is relaxed as per the norms of the Government of India.

Deputy Registrar (Admin)

Essential:

1. Master's Degree in any discipline from a recognised University/Institution with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade; and
2. Officers of Central/State Governments, Universities, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous/Statutory Organisations, etc. who meet one of these conditions:
   • they hold posts in Level-11 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC or equivalent, with experience in Administration/Establishment/Academic/Purchase/Stores/Accounts/Estates; or
   • they have 5 years regular service in Level-10 or equivalent, with experience in these areas; or
   • they have 7 years regular service in Level-9 or equivalent, with experience in these areas; or
   • they have 8 years regular service in Level-8 or equivalent, with experience in these areas.
3. Working knowledge of Computer Applications.

Lecturer in Special Education (Locomotor and Cerebral Palsy)

Essential:

1. Master's Degree.
2. One of the following: M.Ed in Special Education; M.Ed with B.Ed in Special Education (Locomotor and Neurological Disorder); Diploma in Multiple Disabilities or Developmental Therapy (Cerebral Palsy and Neurological Disabilities); or Diploma in Special Education (Cerebral Palsy).
3. Two years experience in teaching in special schools, or working with persons with Disability of Locomotor and Cerebral Palsy, or Research in the field at Institutions of higher education.
4. Experience of using computer applications in day-to-day work.
5. Registration with RCI as professional.

Desirable: Experience in working with persons with multiple disabilities.

Lecturer in Community Rehab & Project Management

Essential:

1. One of these qualifications:
   • Master's degree in disability rehabilitation administration/social work, or Master's in Rehabilitation Sciences (Rehab. Social Worker)/Rehabilitation Psychology/Audiology/Speech Pathology; OR
   • Master's Degree with P.G. Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation/Post Graduate Diploma in Early Intervention.
2. Two years of post-qualification experience as a CBR Professional in a reputed organisation working in the field of disability.
3. Experience of using computer applications in day-to-day work.
4. Registration with RCI as professional.

Desirable: Experience in working with persons with multiple disabilities.

Rehabilitation Officer (Independent Living)

Essential:

1. One of these qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences (Vocational Counselling); Bachelor's in Mobility Sciences; or Bachelor's Degree with Diploma in Vocational Training & Employment in any Disability.
2. Five years experience of working in a reputed organisation focusing on Adults with Disabilities/Vocational Training & Employment.
3. RCI registration as Professional.

Desirable: Master's Degree in Disability in the areas mentioned in the Essential qualifications.

Only citizens of India can apply. The full eligibility for each post is in the official notification.

The fee can only be paid online. The Institute does not accept any other mode of payment. If an application arrives late, it is not considered and the fee is forfeited.

The notice counts the 30 days from the day the advertisement appears in Employment News, and it does not print that date. Counted from the notice date of 28 October 2026, the period ends on 27 November 2026. Check the Employment News publication date for the exact deadline.

• A duly constituted screening committee shortlists the applications. It then decides the final list of candidates called for the interview or written test.
• The management may call only the candidates it judges to rank high on the eligibility criteria. Holding the essential and desirable qualifications and the experience does not by itself give a right to be considered.
• The management may limit the number of candidates called for interview, depending on the response for each post.
• The management may decide not to fill a post for administrative reasons. It may also reject any application or cancel this notification at any stage.

• Probation: Candidates selected by direct recruitment are first appointed on probation for 02 years. After a performance review, the appointment may be confirmed once probation is completed. The Competent Authority may extend probation if needed.
• Pension: Direct recruits are covered by the National Pension Scheme, in force from 01/01/2004.
• Deputation tenure: Deputation, including short term contract, is for 03 years at first. It can be extended up to 05 years, subject to DoPT norms. Serving government employees taken on deputation follow DoP&T instructions.
• Place of posting: NIEPMD(D), Chennai.

Documents to upload:

• Attested photocopies of certificates supporting the application
• A latest Experience-cum-Service Certificate from your present employer, issued after this advertisement was published. It must state the post you hold now, the date of first appointment to that post, its pay level and the duties you handle. If this certificate is not uploaded, the application is rejected.
• Last 5 years' APAR (for applicants serving in a Government organisation)
• "Endorsement of the Present Employer" in the prescribed format (for applicants presently in service)

Other conditions:

• NIEPMD(D) does not arrange travel, boarding or lodging. No TA or DA is paid for attending the selection committee or interview.
• Canvassing, interference or pressure in any form leads to disqualification.
• No interim correspondence is entertained.
• Applications from candidates who are not shortlisted are kept only for six months after the offer letter is issued.
• If a mistake is found at any stage, even after an offer of appointment, NIEPMD(D) may withdraw, cancel or modify that communication.
• Legal matters fall under the jurisdiction of the Hon'ble Madras High Court, Chennai.
